Stop Holding Yourself Back

How to get over being in your own way

Let's be real—sometimes we're the ones who are our biggest opps. We stand in our own way and block our blessings in moving towards our goals because we're scared of other people's perception in how we express ourselves. 💭

But what if I told you that someone out there is waiting for your art to move them, to hit them right when they need it, and the only way that can happen is for you to just go for it? What if I told you that your story is dying to be told and your art is just waiting for you to get out of your own way? Would you stop waiting for it to be perfect and start showing up for it, no matter where you are in your creative journey? 😌

Stop Caring So Much🚫 Breaking down how I handle negative opinions and comments whenever I post my content on this Youtube video. And my word of advice if you feel you're standing in your own way.

Rest Days Are Productive🧘‍♂️ Remember, burning out is not always a sign of progress! Don't forget to put in some necessary rest and recovery days into your schedule because sometimes doing nothing is actually doing a lot.

How many times have you told yourself, "I'll post it when it's perfect!" just to give up on sharing your art after half a dozen revisions? I get it, trust me. I've been there too. But I've learned that perfection is just a more refined and particular version of self-sabotage; it takes up space in your brain until you begin to forget that the reason you make art to begin with is to express yourself fully.🎨 Perfection isn't what you strived for when you started.

Remember your why and be diligent in moving towards it. 🤞

Question of the Week:

“Adrian, to post every day, you must be extremely organized.🎖️ I saw you batching shoot days and edit days. Could you share a POV on how you organize your shooting and editing days? What have you stopped and started doing differently throughout your journey? Thank you, and happy creating! 😊” Submitted by Andrey

I just use my calendar app and time block everything out. You can use any calendar app. I color code EVERYTHING— my filming days, edits, when I post, when I do personal things like hang out with friends, dates, family time, etc. All of that is thrown in to my calendar. My process is usually: come up with an idea, set a target date of when I want to drop that idea, then work backwards. I’ll make my filming day a few weeks before, then edit day, if not the same day, a couple days out. Then once complete, stash it away, and repeat. Something I've stopped and started doing throughout this journey is mainly discipline levels. I've learned how to stay strict on myself if I want to see progress, as anything in life is!
