Your camera is only as good as the settings behind it. ⚙️
And most people buy the Osmo Pocket 3 and just shoot on auto. Which, I get. But you're leaving so much on the table. Today I'm breaking down the exact settings I use on every single shoot. 🎥 Pair these with one simple LUT and your footage goes from "that looks pretty good" to "wait, that was shot on an Osmo!?"

Before we get into it.
These are the settings I use on the Osmo Pocket 3 for every single shoot. Not some of them. All of them. And once you dial these in, you pretty much set it and forget it. So let's get into it.
🤳 Picture Profile: D-Log M
First thing you want to do is switch your picture profile to D-Log M. When you first see it, your footage is going to look flat and washed out. That's normal. That's actually what you want. D-Log M captures way more dynamic range, which means when you go to color grade later, you have so much more to work with. Think of it like shooting on a blank canvas instead of a finished painting.
🖼 Frame Rate: 24fps
Shoot in 24 frames per second. This is what actual films are shot in. It's what gives footage that cinematic motion and feel. Anything higher and it starts looking like a soap opera or a news broadcast. 24fps is the standard. Lock it in.
🏃♂️ Shutter Speed: 1/50
Set your shutter speed to 1/50. This is the 180 degree shutter rule. Double your frame rate, that's your shutter speed. It gives your footage that smooth, natural motion blur that makes everything feel cinematic. This is one of those settings that separates "nice footage" from "wait, what camera was that?"
😎 ND Filters
Now here's the thing. If you're shooting outside in bright light at 1/50, your footage is going to be way overexposed. That's where ND filters come in. Think of them like sunglasses for your lens. They cut down the light without messing with your color. So you can keep that 1/50 shutter speed no matter what. These are non negotiable if you shoot in daylight.
⬇️ ISO: Keep It Low
Set your ISO between 50 and 3200. Lower ISO means cleaner, sharper footage. The higher you go, the more noise and grain you introduce. Try to stay as low as possible. Only push past 3200 if you absolutely have to.
😶🌫️ White Balance: Go Manual
Turn off auto white balance. I'm serious. Set it to 5600K for outdoor daylight shots and 3200K for indoor tungsten lighting. Manual white balance keeps your color consistent from shot to shot. Which means when you go to edit, everything matches. Auto white balance shifts on you constantly and it makes color grading a nightmare.
🫡 Sharpness and Noise Reduction
Last thing. Dial down your in camera processing. Set Sharpness to negative 2 and Noise Reduction to negative 1. This gives your footage a more natural, filmic look. You can always add sharpness in post if you need it. But you can't take it away. Less is more here.
🤝 Now tie it all together.
That's the full setup. These settings plus one LUT is all you need. I mad
e a custom LUT built specifically for the Osmo Pocket 3 shooting in D-Log M. You drag it into your editor, drop it on your footage, and it does the heavy lifting for you. No color grading experience needed. Grab it at the link in my bio. And when you post your footage, tag me. I want to see what you make with this.
