The Realities of Becoming a Content Creator

How to Actually Trust the Journey

When it comes to content creation, I'm sure you've seen it all — the highs of people achieving their wildest dreams and the trials of striving to make your art seen by the world.

It’s easy to look at the hyper sensationalized "lifestyles" of what a creator's life is from the highlight reels of their Instagram feeds but I also think it's important to embrace the reality of working towards your content creator goals.

This week we're talking content creator lifestyle: from the marvels to the mundane — and what I've learned from experiencing both.

POV: Full Time Content Creator 💭 Y'all see the finished product on your feeds but do y'all really want to know the reality of filming full-time? This happens more than I'd like to admit.

Filming Proper Cinematic Footage🎥 The second half of my formula to getting "cinematic footage.” Everything from shutter speeds to ND filters and motion blur — I'm breaking down everything you need to know to get that top notch movie quality we all know and love.

Whether your shame is geared towards filming in public, having people you know watch you pour your heart through your art, striving to make something of yourself when you haven't "made it" yet or putting out something that isn't quite perfect. We're all living the same lives as creators: constantly trying to bring a vision in our minds to reality and sometimes, it hits. Sometimes it doesn't. But the normalcy of our lives as we head into this journey isn't something we should feel embarrassed about — we're all figuring it out along the way.

Listen, if y'all take anything from this week's newsletter, it's this: the internet does a good job of convincing us that other people's lives are better than our own and that is simply not the truth. We tend to document the best parts of our lives to make a highlight reel of our world and while it's easy to feel like we're missing out or lacking in some way, remember not all things you see make up the full picture.

We're all striving for better: making better art, having a better quality of life, whatever it is — we're all starting from scratch and figuring it out as we go. Despite it all, keep creating and enjoy the process. This time, right now, is your future self's testimony.
